“It is the shit of the goat, madam.”

by Martha

On our first morning here at Living Vikasa Vidya Vanam, I was the only one to wake up for 6 am gardening. I was assigned to the group to do “manuring”. This involved taking a bucket full of goat manure and placing two handfuls around each tomato and brinjal plant. It was fun: the manure was nice and warm. I asked a student where the giant pile of manure came from. She replied, “It is the shit of the goat, madam.” On further inquiry, she explained that it was hauled over from the dairy farm.
