Sankranthi Holiday

by Martha

Last week was Sankranthi, a new year/ harvest festival. We went to the village of Gunnampalli with our friends the Parimi. I have a lot of blogging to catch up on, so I’ll mostly just include a bunch of photos with captions. The  blog title image is of one of my favorite Sankranti traditions–the dung ball with flower.

One small ceremony involves blessing the children with berries, candy, and coins…

Kavi discovered that he loves star fruit. There were lots of trees with various fruits. I also learned something valuable from one of these trees, but you’ll get that in a later blog post.

Kavi also got to go FISHING in the nearby pond to catch carp, both by rod and by net.
