From November 3, 2016 through April 15, 2017, we will be visiting India. Martha and I are both on sabbatical, so we took the kids out of school and headed over to visit friends and family and give the kids a chance for a deeper dive into our culture and community.
We are spending a good chunk of time outside of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh at the Living Vikasa Vidya Vanam school. This is the second school started by our dear friend, S. R. Parimi and his family. The first school, which is an elementary education day-school in Vijayawada is where Martha and I lived and worked on our last extended trip to India back in 2000/2001 (we missed that horrible election, as well).
The Living school is a residential school that focuses on community living, organic farming, dignity of all work and open learning.
This is an explicitly secular and progressive school.
We will also be doing some traveling, visiting other family and friends and taking some side-trips in the region outside of India. Our plans are very flexible and we are seeing how it all goes.
